Gregg Austin is a life-long Cleveland area resident. He was born in Berea and graduated from Berea High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science from Baldwin-Wallace College at age 20. Upon graduation he attended Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in December 1980. He has been licensed to practice law in Ohio since May 1981.
While attending law school and for some time thereafter, Mr. Austin gained seven years of combined experience working in-house for Progressive Insurance and Grange Mutual Insurance and another five years experience in representing the interests of employers in workers' compensation matters before the Industrial Commission of Ohio. During those years, Mr. Austin gained valuable insight into the inner-workings of how insurance companies and employers think, how they operate, and the tactics they use against injury victims. He then put those years of experience to use and began to exclusively represent the rights of injury victims against insurance companies and in workers' compensation cases and has done so ever since. Overall Mr. Austin has been handling injury related matters for more than 30 years.
In many injury cases settlements and benefits can be obtained relatively quickly with a minimum of further disruption of the daily life of the injured person. This is always the goal in each case Mr. Austin handles. But when the opposition is not reasonable or when the circumstances require it, Mr. Austin has the experience and track record to take your case as far as it needs to go.
He has handled cases in thirteen different Ohio county courts ranging from Toledo to Ashtabula to Columbus as well as in the Northern District of the United States Federal Court. He has handled numerous matters at the appellate level including cases before the Supreme Court of Ohio. He has handled several Mandamus actions in the Franklin County Court of Appeals successfully challenging final decisions of the Industrial Commission of Ohio in workers' compensation matters. He has been a repeat featured speaker on topics in workers' compensation at Continuing Legal education seminars for which he received teaching credit from the Supreme Court of Ohio. Due in large part to his experience and unique skill-set, Mr. Austin is frequently hired by other injury attorneys as a consultant and on a co-counsel basis assisting them with more complex cases and litigation.
